COVERING LOTHIAN, BORDERS AND FIFE FOR 1-2-1- PRIVATE TRAINING
Established in 2004, i have provided petcare, and one to one private Dog Training successfully to the East Lothian pet owning community .www.poshpetseastlothian.co.uk
Now, we are offering a fabulous service to all pet dog owners, puppy and dog training classes based in the East Lothian area, with hourly training, for the beginner, intermediate and a special "puppy club".
We are a successful training club, and we have had a very high success rate with our clients and their dogs. The club is Kennel Club listed, and offers the Good Citizens Dog Training Programme, teaching bronze, silver & gold, in conjunction with our own training.We are also vet recommended.POSH PETS provides quality training, at an affordable fee.Each class has 1 trainer, and a helper available, who are on hand to offer help, advice and support to you.A telephone advice service is available, in the evenings to club members.
There is no START DATE nor FINISH DATE with our classes. They are ongoing throughout the year. Initially to begin, you would be required to book 10 lessons( beginners) 6 (puppy club) and attend the class that suits your level. If you for whatever reason can,t make a class - don,t worry. We do not charge/take a lesson from you!. Lessons that are not used up, are non refundable.Lessons also must be used with 4 months of initially booking. Private lessons require 24 hours notice to cancel, otherwise the full cost of the lesson is payable.

PUPPY CLUB - WEDNESDAY @ 7PM offers, socialisation and fun for pups, learning life skills, and an introduction into basic Dog Training,using praise and reward methods.Socialisation as puppies is an extremely important part of growing up. Studies have shown that between the ages of two months and four months (the socialization period), your puppy should be exposed to as many positive experiences as possible. We focus on providing opportunities for puppies to develop social skills and manners with both dogs and people. This class will teach you and your puppy basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come, off, leave-it, take-it, and leash etiquette. Other common management issues also covered include: housebreaking, jumping, chewing, and mouthing & handling. Puppies that miss out in interacting with others at this stage in their lives can prove to be difficult later on .Pups look forward to coming to class ,mingling with their buddies,playing with toys whilst off lead,meeting lots of new people, and learning as they go along .Plus they all know about the "biscuit box" in the class!!. This is a very popular class...... and there may be a waiting list. When your precious bundle is fully vaccinated, book online, then we can begin your puppies education.
We recommend that your puppy is vaccinated against KENNEL COUGH.
At the start of training you will receive handouts .
This beautiful Belgian Shepherd is "Kara". She began her puppy training classes with me, moved up to beginners and has just passed her KENNEL CLUB BRONZE TEST. As well as obedience, she also attends the ringcraft class, which too is in Tranent Town Hall, run by a "showing club". Her owner Hazel has just told me, she has now qualified for CRUFTS!!

Your dog will be learning manners, like it did from mum and all the litter mates.In class i use one of my dogs as a TEACHING DOG.Dogs learn best from other canines, especially mature dogs,this is why i involve STORM in the classes. She is a 6 year old GSD bitch,obedience trained, who is confident, balanced, friendly with all, but is a pack leader within our dogs. She will interact with dogs in class, but will keep boisterous pups in check and let them know their place! She enjoys being involved in puppy class! We can teach our puppies new exercises and fun tricks etc, but we cannot teach them "doggie language". They can only learn this from socialising with other canines.
BEGINNERS OBEDIENCE CLASS WEDNESDAY @ 8PM for older pups and adults. RESCUED dogs, lacking in confidence or with "issues" are welcomed into the class. Most owners come to class wishing to sort out - anti social dog behaviour, constant pulling on the lead, poor recall, jumping up, not listening to the handler etc. As well as learning to become sociable in a class enviroment, the dogs learn lots of new exercises and skills. To start training, book online for a course of 8 lessons, thereafter, you pay at the door, each session.Again we recommend that your dog should be vaccinated against KENNEL COUGH. Any dog showing signs of ILLNESS or if bitches are IN SEASON, they will NOT be admitted. Also, if your dog has contracted KENNEL COUGH, and the symptoms of that are; gagging / choking, almost like something is stuck in their throat, you must seek veterinary care, and keep your dog away from the training club for at least a week after the coughing stops , but do take your vets advice.
Here at Posh Pets Dog Obedience Training Club, we do not turn any dog away. All dogs deserve the chance to be trained . If you feel your dog has an extreme behavioural problem, please contact me, prior to booking.THIS IS A CLASS OPEN TO ALL BREEDS OF DOG.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS WEDNESDAY @8PM is for those who enjoy training , and want more training under their belt! The standard required for this is to have a good understanding of beginners level and who is ready to progress.

FOR THOSE OF YOU ATTENDING THE CLASSES RECENTLY, WILL HAVE MET BILL DUNCAN, WHEN HE TOOK A COUPLE OF TRAINING SESSIONS WITH US. HE SADLY DIED ON MONDAY 3RD OF JANUARY, 2011. HE WAS MY FRIEND WITH A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOUR, A GERMAN SHEPHERD LOVER, AND SOMEONE THAT I ADMIRED, AS A SUPERB TRAINER. HE WILL BE VERY MUCH MISSED..............A YEAR HAS PASSED SINCE BILL DIED. SOMETIMES WITH A PARTICULAR PROBLEM IN CLASS, I HAVE OFTEN ASKED MYSELF JUST HOW BILL WOULD HAVE MANAGED THIS SITUATION, AND VERY QUICKLY CAME UP WITH THE SOLUTION!OTHER TRAINERS THAT KNEW BILL, WILL AGREE, THAT HE WAS A FIRM, BUT FAIR DOG TRAINER, WITH AN AMAZING WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE. MISS YOU BUD!

This breed is often quite misunderstood, and frequently " looked upon " as being ferocious bad dogs. In my, and most other trainers experience, any dog, whether its a spaniel, or lhasa apso, can be a nightmare if it is NOT TRAINED.
The German Shepherd is an intelligent, noble dog, who wants to love and protect its family. Putting training in place, setting rules and boundaries, GSD,S are very trainable dogs, and working with this breed is extremely rewarding! who will live in harmony , within their " family pack ". Anyone who has lived with a Shepherd, will understand the bond one can have with them, the fabulous sense of humour they have, and the devotion this breed give you!
